The Deer Valley HS freshmen and sophomore track athletes competed at this weekend's Frosh-Soph meet hosted at Pinnacle High School April 12, 2008. Meets like this are a place for the younger kids to have a chance to shine against other less experienced track athletes. And shine is what the Skyhawks did.

Amy Paulson placed 1st in the shot put, Catalina Csonka finished 1st in the 400m with a time of 1:07.72, Lisa Reif placed 1st in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 54.06.The boys won a few medals of their own. Sophomore Scott Bruekner had a busy day winning the high jump with a jump of 5'10" and placing 2nd in the shot with a put of 38'6". Bruekner also competed in the discus and pole vault finishing 3rd with a throw of 109'5" and 6th with a vault of 9'0". Freshman Josh Espinoza finished 2nd in the 1600m with a time of 4:49.3, and sophomore Hayden McClellan placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles with a time of 43.62. McClellan also finished 6th in the 100m in 12.01.You can see more results on the Frosh-Soph Meet results page.
